General Information about the Order of the Eastern Star
The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which men and women may belong. It encircles the earth with over 5,500 chapters in the United States, Canada, and 13 other countries . Though its teachings are based on the Bible, the Order of the Eastern Star espouses no religion and is neither secret nor political. Like the Masonic fraternity, membership in the Order is open to members of all religious affiliations, but petitioners must profess a belief in a Supreme Being.
The Nevada Grand Chapter has 20 Chapters located throughout the State of Nevada. We have a total membership of over 1,900.
Eastern Star is a unique organization with many qualities you won't find anywhere else - beautiful ceremonies, meaningful lessons that focus on moral values, and the friendship of like-minded Sisters and Brothers.
Our objective is to promote and practice Charity, Truth and Loving Kindness. As a social Order, we are dedicated to fraternal service to humanity. We are involved in this service at local levels as well as at state and national levels. Eastern Star offers many opportunities to make new friends, practice leadership skills and to participate in our charities. We support each other, as family members, through good times and bad.
Who can join? Men who are Master Masons and their female relatives, who are 18 years and older. Originally, a woman would have to be the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a Master Mason, but the organization now allows other female relatives. The organization is also open to Job's Daughters and Rainbow Girls once they reach the age of 18.
